Meet Karen Beattie

Registered Psychotherapist, a trained life coach and an experienced pastoral minister.

Many of us come to periods in our lives when we feel overwhelmed, confused or immobilized by our circumstances and our feelings.  Or we reach a point in life when we know in our gut that something has to change, but we just don’t know where to begin.  Doubt and negative self-talk can make us feel stuck.  Sometimes we struggle with feelings of sadness, anger, shame or anxiety and can feel very alone in that struggle.

Having a safe place to talk and a safe, non-judgmental person to talk to is key to healing and moving beyond the “stuck place”.  Talking out loud allows us to organize our thoughts and get clear about what we truly value.  Often, when we understand our core values, we can make sense of why we feel the way we feel and we can begin to consciously make choices that honour those core values.   Sometimes we come to points in life where old methods and approaches no longer serve us and we feel lost and disconnected.  I see my role as helping people to explore and unlock their core values and unique truth so that healing, growth and renewal are possible.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), a trained life coach and an experienced pastoral minister. I believe that the answers we are searching for lie within us and that transition comes from within. These answers however, are sometimes “buried” as a result of past or recent life circumstances.  Experiences of trauma, abuse, neglect, shame and oppression can derail us and it can be very difficult to get back on track without help. I offer a holistic, relational approach to counselling and therapy, recognizing the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual aspects that intertwine to make us who we are.
